Last week I got a bit sick, im glad to now report, that in my world, If Im sick, I am behind on everything (I mean, almost everything as my kids’ schedule is running like nothing was happening. delightful). But here I am now, and glad to be writing this newsletter, I have gotten excited about substack to be honest, its such a fun and nice way to connect, and the analysis can go a bit deeper than other media.
So this week, I really wanted to talk (or write but you get me) about cappuccino tones. They have have followed me since the first day of November, into the last stretch of January - and now I wonder after few months breathing and living in these colours, if I will be ready to ditch the recipe to welcome a new one for Spring. Maybe I won’t.

The transitional seasons that are Spring and Fall make it a wonderful time to get confortable with the weather that’s changing, and the mindsets which are readjusting. I think of these two seasons like the apetizers of Summer and Winter respectively, almost like your opportunity to ease into the change. I usually take a bit of time to find my seasonal uniform, but this time, at the beginning of fall - it came easily. Back then, I turned into brown (I was not the only one) as it felt a natural move from black (which im not really good at btw) or even black and grey. There is something with the choco tones, that make an outfit richer without making it heavier.
Now looking back, I did not think about it nor realise it while getting dressed, but my entire Winter was made of brown tones and monochrome mocha blend w/ whipped cream. Somehow, It felt reassuring to me, cosy and interesting at the same time. So I have analysed it a bit for the purpose of this newsletter, and dug out how to wear browns.
Start somewhere easy
We all have one or two categories we are extremely comfortable with. Mine are definitely trousers / bottoms, they are pieces I am totally happy to experiment through (whether it is colour or fabrics, maybe shape). Less so with the tops, closer to the face, and some neck types dont seat me with right. So as a rule of thumb, and when you want to start something new, good, exciting but equally nerve wracking (I know, lets cool off, we are talking about clothes here) my advise is: start little, and focu on the item that you are happy to update, and comfortable with.
Could be that these items are accessories

Don’t underestimate the power of accessories test newness. Also the most emotional and impulse buys there are (perhaps ex aequo with beauty) are within these two categories and they are amazing ways to update outfits and follow a trend without committing too mucho. On the picture above are 3 different textures: Raffia, Cashmere and Suede. Interestingly enough, it did not bother me to wear them at the same time, on the same day. Also, I like the tone of the smaller bag and shoes, the foam to the coffee brown of the tote.
